Dr. Martin was born and raised in Newfoundland. He obtained his Bachelor of Science from Dalhousie University in 1989. In 1997 he graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College and was awarded the American Animal Hospital Association prize for the student most proficient in small animal medicine and surgery. He also received the Upjohn Achievement Award, the Ontario Veterinary Deans Scholarship and the International Plowing Match Scholarship.
Dr. Martin's areas of special interest include internal medicine, ophthalmology, oncology, and avian and small mammal medicine. He is especially interested in ultrasonography and has taken numerous ultrasound courses in the US and Canada. Dr. Martin regularly attends veterinary conferences and uses the internet to stay current on the latest advancements in veterinary medicine.
When not working, Dr. Martin likes to spend time with his family and pets. He enjoys playing tennis, hiking, and reading.
