Hospital visits

The Barrie Veterinary Hospital operates Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., and Saturday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

All hospital visits are scheduled by appointment only and begin daily at 9:00 a.m. Surgeries or animals being admitted into the hospital should arrive between 8:00 - 8:45 a.m. To prevent waiting or upsetting our schedules please ensure that you check in with the front desk immediately upon arrival. At this time we also ask that you let us know of any samples (such as feces or urine) that require testing. Emergencies or unforeseen conditions may interrupt appointment times but the delay will be no longer than absolutely necessary.

If you are visiting the Barrie Veterinary Hospital for the first time, we recommend that you complete the New Client Information Form (available below) before your scheduled appointment. Please print off and complete this form, then submit it to the Front Desk upon arrival.

Financial policy

Unlike human hospitals we do not receive government or charitable funding and therefore we require that all accounts be for at the time of service. Our fees are all in accordance with the OVMA fee guide. Please do not hesitate to discuss any of our fees with us prior to treatment and also note that an estimate is always available for you upon request. We reserve the right to request a deposit on all treatments.

We accept payments of cash, Interac (debit), Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Personal cheques are not an acceptable form of payment. With your cooperation we can provide you and your pet with the best possible care at the lowest possible cost.

Hospitalized pets

In order to protect your pet from contacting serious illness we require that all hospitalized patients be up to date on their annual examination and required vaccinations. Phone calls from concerned clients are always welcome but patient visits must be authorized by our veterinary staff.

Safety

To ensure the safety of you and your pet we ask that you please have your pet leashed or in a carrier during every visit to our hospital. To prevent unnecessary injuries pets should also be restrained at all times while in the exam rooms.
